With over 20 years in education, Joanne has held various roles within schools, gaining firsthand experience and insights. Her research focuses on simplifying ways of being to create mental space for clarity and awareness, allowing individuals to cultivate fulfilling moments.

Joanne is passionate about supporting emotional well-being, raising awareness, and providing strategies to simplify life's complexities. As a parent of two young children, she understands the importance of self-care, continuous professional development, and replenishing mental reserves while navigating parenthood. She fosters a growth mindset, constantly learning and seeking efficient ways to adapt and thrive.

I believe in the power of small, everyday moments to shape meaningful connections. Guided by curiosity, compassion and calm, I bring together children, parents and educators to create spaces where we can pause, reflect, learn and grow alongside one another.

About My Story
Hello, I'm Joanne.
I'm so glad you're here.
I'm Joanne Lo, an educator, mentor, mother of two and founder of JL Education.
My journey in education began over 25 years ago in Hong Kong, with one question that has stayed with me ever since:
Who is education really for?
That question has continued to guide me throughout my career, taking me from Hong Kong to Toronto, New York and London, where I've had the privilege of working alongside children, families and educators from different cultures and communities.
Across these experiences, I've been a teacher, a school leader, a mentor and now a mother. Each role has offered a different perspective, shaping how I understand children, relationships and the importance of emotional wellbeing.
Over time, I've come to appreciate that children don't learn and grow in isolation. The people around them, the words we use, the way we listen and how we respond — all play an important part in their development.
This understanding has shaped my educational philosophy and ultimately led me to create JL Education.
My work brings together mindfulness, social-emotional learning and positive psychology, grounded in research and everyday human experiences.
Guided by curiosity, compassion and calm, I hope to create spaces where children and adults feel heard, valued and connected. Spaces where we can slow down, notice, reflect and build practical tools together.
